Ephesians 1: 7 says, “ In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.”  This scripture clearly shows us that our sins are forgiven but we are also redeemed.

We are redeemed from our iniquities, which is the penalty of sin. Hebrews 8:12 says, “For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.” Under the Old Covenant, God said he would visit the iniquities of our fathers to the third and fourth generations. But under the New Covenant, both our sins and the penalty of our sins, or iniquities, God no longer remembers.
